The Cave

This game runs almost perfect in 3D, so... more than a fix it's an improvement. Game its really great and fun.

Improvement:
- Pop-up HUD (character selection and subtitles), now more confortable. It's really anoying to see HUD in the middle of the scene in this kind of games.
- Text over Items now a little deeper and remove some white flame.

Instructions:
- Extract the .zip content where cave.exe is.
- Disable shadows in-game options (tbh don't add to much to game)
- Press "P" to suggested convergence value

Don't use FXAA, only SMAA......FXAA blur the image to much in this game.

  1. Thanks! Nice timing, I just started playing this and the mod helps. I was getting the gameoverlayrenderer.dll crash message at start up with the d3d9.dll in the download here. Swapped that out for the one in the DLLsModPack.zip from 3/15/13 to get it playing. I found disabling the Bloom in-game option also helps (seems more noticeable on some characters than others).

    1. gameoverlayrenderer.dll is steam community conflict. Need to disable steam community. I dont recommend swapping dlls. Sometimes it has side effects.

    1. Disable Steam community and close any software running in background like MSI afterburner, EVGA Precision...http://helixmod.wikispot.org/How_To_Install

    3. Delete your d3d9.dll
      download this https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/DllsModPack.zip
      go into DLLsInjection\RELEASE\
      Drag all files EXCEPT dx9settings.ini into same folder as cave.exe
      Open your current dx9settings.ini
      After line
      [GENERAL]
      Paste this
      DefModuleName=Cave.exe

      Should look like this...

      [GENERAL]
      DefModuleName=Cave.exe

      Now click helixmodlauncher.exe and let it keep running, now launch game.

    5. If this ever happens again. Remember these instructions, may have to do for other games. You got something causing a conflict.

    6. Thanks eqzitara...that injector feature it's really useful. Sadly using with debuger the texture recognition don't work.

    7. I had to use this method as well and it works. One question though:

      The "p" key for suggested convergence value doesn't work for me. I wanted to adjust convergence myself with ctrl+F6/F5 but saving with F7 or either ctrl+F7 doesn't work. It keeps resetting. Is it because of the helixmodlauncher.exe? Dx9settings is not set to read only.

      Any help is much appreciated

  8. Thank you for fixing this game, DHR. The 3D looks perfect. Now the only problem remaining is the game is locked @ 30 fps. But, the dev is working to fix that.
